Sturgeon Falls

Sturgeon Falls

The drive to Valleyfield was a quiet one. After a couple of weeks on the road, everyone is pretty tired. We arrived and set up our camp in the field of the high school. The B.C.E group arrived and what seemed like a pretty big green space soon shrunk. The Valleyfield training week went by pretty quickly and before we knew it we were racing. Unfortunately I got pretty sick during the week. I went to the hospital to get it checked out 7 hours later I saw the doctor and was diagnosed with pneumonia. I got some antibiotics and went back to our tent city and slept. The race was pretty difficult for me as I was very wiped out from the sickness and medicine that I was taking. Despite this I still did really well and finished off the race series with a 3rd place in the U23 Junior category.

The drive back to Alberta was ridiculous. The sprinter van was at maximum capacity and the outside temperature averaged 25 all the way home. Luckily, we did get to stop at Sturgeon Falls for a sick surf session. The tall glassy wave was so much fun and if you really wanted you could stay on it forever.

We arrived home very late in the night. It felt great to get to sleep in my own bed again. Our next competition is on home turf: the Kananaskis river.
