This past week I was at a training camp in Ottawa, ON with the national head coach Michal and the regional coach James. The majority of athletes attending the camp were local, but Hayden, AJ, and I represented Alberta. The water levels at the Pumphouse were awkward. Not low enough but not high enough either. We were without water for only one day.
As we boarded the plane in Calgary we left behind the snowy expanses of prairie in hopes of a sunny sky. We got our wish on the first day, but after that we had no luck. Most days we found ourselves playing the “name that precipitation” game. With the almost 100% humidity it was hard to say whether you were getting wet from rain or from the constant mist that seemed to float in the air.
We got to do a lot of technical work during the camp and were also able to test our skills on full length courses.
Ottawa’s autumn colours were magnificent. You just don’t see those shades of orange, yellow, and red in Alberta.
I was privileged enough to have a homestay at the Taylors. Thank you guys so much, it was a blast.
I think that this camp was my left on water training camp before we go to Australia in February. Now it’s time to jump in the gym and pump some iron.
